National level winners

An all-India essay writing event was organised by Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan.

The topic for students in classes 9 to 12 was ‘Begin to be now what you will be hereafter’, while undergraduate and postgraduate students wrote on ‘What lies behind us and what lies after us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us’.

Over 9,828 institutions and 1,70,148 students from all over India participated in the competition with 375 institutes and over 1,605 students participating from south Karnataka alone, press note said.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at Shri Ram Chandra Mission, Banashankari ashram, recently.

The south Karnataka zonal winners for 2012 are as follows:

Category 1 (class 9 to 12) — English: Sanjana Hebbar (Mahila Seva Samaja, Bangalore); Hindi: Jheel P. Haran (Don Bosco ICSE School, Chitradurga)

Category 2 (undergraduate and postgraduate) — English: Swati Bagaria (Brindavan College of MBA, Bangalore); Hindi: Shreya S. Shanbag (Besant Evening College, Mangalore), the release added.
